The Black Sea Ring Highway Caravan delivers
|
The scientific conclusions of the Black Sea Ring Highway Caravan
have been made public on 26 June 2007, on the occasion of the Caravan’s
final ceremony and press gala staged in Istanbul, the day after the
15th Anniversary Summit of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC),
and in partnership with the BSEC Organisation and the Union of Road
Transport Associations of the BSEC Region (BSEC-URTA).
The NEA Transport Research Centre has analysed the data collected en
route by the Caravan with regards to non-physical barriers to road
transport, and has estimated the annual costs of these barriers within
the BSEC region at a total of € 229 million for waiting times at
borders, transport permits and driver visas. The analysis also
highlighted the preponderance of unmodernised border-crossing
facilities.
